The Yarn Gurl's Yarn Exchange

A few day's ago, The Creator was all in a twitter about what he was going to give the yarn gurls he meets with in the Yarn Exchange. It was interesting to see him go through the 13 totes of yarn and The Bookcase to find something to give. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of what he gave. The little red box wasn't in the room for me to use. So, I will just have to describe it for you.

He wound up three skiens of handspun thick and thin yarn. The first skein was a lovely superwash merino in a red with a bit of purple and green. It rocked, but he didn't know what to do with this yarn. On top of that, he had a hard time finding the end of the yarn. He had it on that cross-stick thing that he puts skeins of yarn on to wind in to cakes. He couldn't find the end. He was spinning the yarn around and around and had all this yarn on the floor. I don't know why he did this. It looked a mess. He finally cut the yarn and caked it up with the hand caking machine. It looked lovely when done.

The second skien was this superwash merino hand-dyed purple & plum thick and thin yarn. He zipped that right up in to a cake and off he went.

He really had a hard time giving the next skein away. It was a yummy blue/green wool/silk hand spun thick and thin yarn. I had the skein around my plastic neck for a time and it was lovely sitting on my plastic.

Come to find out, Megan received the yarn. He said she was grateful and loved the yarn. It will be interesting to see what she makes out of it.

The Creator brought home a nice bag of Purple with a smattering of yellow yarn that Joy had offered. Take a look here:

That is 2 large skeins of Sumptuous in purple, some yellow wool for felting, a dark purple ball of Cotton Silk, 2 light purple balls of Classic Elite Cotton Bamboo, a light gray Classic Elite, a yellow Classic Elite, a ball of no name purple and a ball of a darker olive green thing. As a bonus, a small stitch book!

The Creator has ideas for the Sumptuous and the Classic Elite purples. The others, he will think upon and make something. I can see the wheels turning from here.

  1. Well Manny,
The recipient of the yarn, me, loves it and already has a project on the needles with the blue and green!
